GSP asked to be lenient toward a drug kingpin

Jimmy Cournoyer, is this Lavallois drug kingpin which has mainly done business in New York while it flooded the market of Canadian marijuana dealer.

At the approach of the sentence of Cournoyer, Quebec celebrity of mixed martial arts, Georges St-Pierre, wrote a letter in which he asked the clemency of the Court towards him.

Cournoyer currently faces 11 counts and could be sentenced to 20 years in prison in addition to having to pay fines that could amount $1 billion.

In his letter, Georges describes Jimmy as a brother: "Jimmy became like a brother to me and I instantly became his friend. Jimmy is a loyal friend that I respect a lot. I never juged Jimmy. In fact, what he was doing in his life was not my business. We have a very human relationship; We share the same passions, which are sport, budybuilding and martial arts."

As advocate for Jimmy Cournoyer, he said: "until Mr. Cournoyer sort of prison, even if the Court imposes the minimum sentence, it is very likely that marijuana will be legal in the United States. There is something wrong in this reality".

Case to follow.
