Financial difficulty for Nintendo

Nintendo continues to suffer financially while profits are still down, announcing today a quarterly net loss of $96.9 million.

Nintendo attributes a large part of their losses to operating costs, amounting to $91,000,000

Total selling, general and administrative expenses including fixed expenses exceeded gross profit.

The announcement comes despite the release by Nintendo's of Mario Kart 8, which has sold more than 2.82 million copies. The success of Mario Kart 8 also saw an increase in Wii U sales, who were 510 000 against 160 000 for the same quarter in 2013.

Nintendo said that despite the success of Mario Kart 8, more popular titles are needed to get people to buy the Wii-U which still suffers from his catalogue.
