Online Poker: Alliance between MGM and bwin.party

We learned yesterday that MGM Resort International got his Nevada gaming license. The network became the last to receive approval to offer the poker online with real money in Nevada. Once this step is completed, MGM may offer the poker with real money to residents of Nevada via the bwin.party platform. The latter must first obtain a licence before they can operate.

MGM hopes to launch its platform in early 2013. Since its launch, you can play poker with with Silver Shadow in preparation for poker with real money.

MGM recently announced its partnership with bwin.party and Boyd Gaming. In this company, bwin.party will receive 65% of the profits for its gaming platform and make it roll. MGM will affect 25% as the owner and Boyd Gaming will reach 10%.

"We are encouraged by the fact that States are in talks with each other" said including the CEO of MGM Jim Murren to Reuters Wednesday. "They are implementing their own laws and legal frameworks but talk to each other in anticipation of the meeting of several States."

"We are convinced that if this is really State-by-State, the States themselves will need to unite with each other to create a more sustainable economic model. Any State which will decide to operate solo will face an economic challenge, particularly in a State as sparsely populated as Nevada."

'For many years the question was whether a US Government - be it at the federal level or at the level of the State - would decide to regulate online gambling,' explained the co-Chair of Bwin.party Jim Ryan. "Now we think it is more a question of 'if' but a question of 'when'."

Bwin.party has already submitted a licence application but has not yet received it. According to Howard Stutz to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the application for a licence on the part of bwin.party is not won automatically. It may be refused. We will have more details about this later in the year. PokerCollectif will keep you up-to-date on this folder. Meanwhile, Boyd Gaming received its licence to operate last month.
