Party Gaming in talks with rival Gigamedia

Gambling online Party Gaming group is in talks with rival listed on NASDAQ, Gigamedia.

GigaMedia whose value is estimated at 363,000,000$ hired the bank Goldman Sachs to find a buyer for the company in full or only its subsidiary Everest Poker. Party Gaming, which this month is at the heart of a dispute with the US justice department, however not a lot of time to devote to these talks with Gigamedia.

One of the potential barriers to the full merger could be the refusal of Gigamedia to hold shares in a company listed in London. Party Gaming which has several ideas of understanding in head refuses to say more, but a spokesman said: "we are confident that we will get an agreement, and we will take the opportunity when it presents itself to us."

GigaMedia told investors last month that the company could proceed with a strategic sale of the company.
