2011 WSOP - event #2 - out Duhamel, Cajelais still in the race.

wsop-2011-braceletAnd here, the Worlds Series of Poker are started! In addition to the event reserved for casino employees, action began with the Heads Up Hold'Em Championship, a tournament highroller with a cost of$ 25,000.
Among the 128 participants, two Quebecers: the world champion Jonathan Duhamel and FullTilt Poker pro (and holder of the WSOP Europe bracelet) Player Erik Cajelais. They compete 3.2 m in prizes, including a $ 851 192 to the winner.

Jonathan Duhamel:
The day began in lion for Jonathan Duhamel, who quickly got rid of his opponent, the famous Phil Laak. After quickly taking a lead, Duhamel has raised minimum with K6o. Phil Laak has 3bet and Duhamel called his release "without real reason" (depending on what Duhamel told the reporter of PokerNews)... The result was the least interesting for him: the flop brought K-6-3 the highest two pairs. Duhamel has simply called the Laak bet on the flop. After the check of Laak on a 4-core (completing a potential draw to color), Duhamel has bet, Laak has relaunched all in. Duhamel immediately called the placing of Laak, and latter announced had simply not out to beat the two pairs of Duhamel, moving it so in the second round.
In the 2nd round, Duhamel took the lead against Jon Duthie. Unfortunately for him, the wind changed side and Duthie took the lead. While shortstack, Duhamel had a golden opportunity to double his stack while he had KK. Unfortunately for him, a Duthie Q2 was sufficient to eliminate Duhamel in the 2nd round.

Erik Cajelais:
Érik Cajelais faced American Steven Kelly. Cajelais has managed to pass in the second round thanks to an A7, against the QQ of Steven Kelly (the same matchup as the famous hand allowed Duhamel eliminated Joseph Cheong - A7 vs. QQ... except this time, the A7 is out winner!)
Cajelais then faced Scott Seiver, the winner of the HighRoller of WPT event two weeks ago (which brought him 1.6 m!). To the dismay of Seiver, Cajelais was able to win her "flip" and will therefore in the 3rd round.

An unusual hand:
A rather unusual hand between Gus Hansen and Jason Mercier. While Hansen had a 104 000 chips vs. 46 000, both players decided to go all-in in the dark, without looking at their cards, a rather unusual fact in a tournament of this magnitude.
Hansen: KQs
Mercier: 4Ts
The flop gave a 4 in Mercier, but a flush draw and two overcards to Hansen. Even if the pair of Jason Mercier was stronger than the high King of Hansen, the latter was found despite all in advance (54% vs. 46%). Unfortunately for him, Mercier was able to avoid the many outs of Hansen and was able to double his stack, thus avoiding the elimination and now taking the lead. Hansen was nonetheless able to catch and to prevail a twenty minute later with Mercier.

Round 3:
There are now 32 players, including Tom 'durrrr' Dwan, John Juanda, Gus Hansen, David Benyamine, Erik Cajelais and several other well-known players. Players who will spend the next round will be provided $ 67 436.
