2011 WSOP - summary of weekend (events #2 à #9)

wsop-2011-braceletEvent #2 (HeadsUp 25 k): Jake Cody WINS triple Crown
Jake Cody has overcome this first tournament open to all WSOP 2011. He had earlier won the year past a WPT and EPT event, and that is that he won a WSOP bracelet. It thus becomes the third player - and the youngest - to win a triple Crown. It only took 15 months to accomplish this feat.

Event #3 (Omaha high-low 1.5 k): two early awards for Quebecers
Guillaume Rivet (SixZeros) has dominated the tournament for almost two full days, but it must eventually bowing to the 15th. Miguel Proulx (Mig), for its part, will be finished in 28th place. They receive respectively $ 12,450 and $ 6868 traded.
It was Francesco 'cheech' Barbaro who took top honors, winning $ 262 283 and his first world series of poker bracelet.

Event #4 (No-Limit Hold'Em 5 k): more participants than last year!
The big fear this year, following the events of Black Friday, was to see a great decrease in participation. The first event of Hold'Em the world series has silenced all the fears by attracting 43 participants from more than last year. Of this number, several Quebec including Philippe Boucher (PhilLeDingue), Jonathan Driscoll (Da_Engineer), Marc-Étienne McLaughlin (General Irish), Jean-Philippe Matte (JPhil), Gabriel Alarie (GabyGaby) Will Molson and several others.
Quebecers are made quickly show the door.Only Gabriel Alarie and Will Molson was back on the second day. On the side of our GabyGaby, it was eliminated in 103rd position. Will Molson, meanwhile, was able to climb in paid places, finishing 54th for a purse of $ 15,814.
It was Allen Barri, who won the tournament, just before the beautiful native American of Taiwan Maria Ho.

Event #5 (Seven card stud 1.5 k): bad luck for André Boyer
Although he spent the 1st day, André Boyer was not able to finish in paid places.
It was Eugene Katchalov, winner of the$ 100,000 PCA 2011 event, which won the event. He won $ 122 909 and a first WSOP bracelet.

Event #6 (Hold'em limit 1.5 k): Harrison Wilder WINS
675 participants at this event, but few Quebecers in the batch. It was an American of 29 years, Harrison Wilder, who won the victory and $ 205 065.

Event #7 (Pot-Limit Hold'Em 10 k):
Despite a fine performance by Jean-Philippe Matte (JPhil), the latter was not able to survive until the paid positions. This was a tournament played in difficult conditions for JPhil who had to survive with a very small stack having descended to approximately 5bb at one time.
Unfortunately for him, he was eliminated while he was slightly ahead of his opponent (he had AdKd vs. 5d6d on a JdTd5c flop, which was favorite 56%) and had to bow in 90th place.
The winner was Amir 1st, who had finished fourth in March last WPT. He won $ 573 456, which adds to the $ 421 680 he had won last March.

#8 event (NLHE 1 k): a start runaway for Quebecers
Start of an "affordable" in no-limit Hold'em event ' em. 4178 are register (slightly less), including several Quebeckers. They have indeed good figure while at the end of day 1A, three Quebecers reflected in the top50, either Jonathan Driscoll (Da_Engineer) 12th, Jonathan Duhamel (Poker_John) in the 16th row and Gabriel Morin (GabyGaby) ranked 37th.
Day 1 b was somewhat less auspicious for Quebecers, but many spend the day 2. This is particularly the case for Gabriel Rouleau, Guillaume Frechette, and Guy A. Lepage.
In total, a dozen of Quebecers remain race. The action resumes today (day 2) while the Group of day 1 will be merged to day 1 b.

Event #9 (2-7 Draw Lowball 1.5 k): Cajelais and out Boyer.
André Boyer, nor Erik Cajelais were able to survive the first day of hostilities. The final table will end today. The American and member of team PokerStars, Jason Mercier, is always of the party but is in 7th position (of 7) with only 89 k tokens.
