News PokerCollectif regulars have heard often from Macau in China. With cash games high limits take place year-round and a few times, we report the performance of several known as Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Phil Ivey poker players. Huge pots are won and lost. Sessions are often epic with incredible swings on 15 and even the times, 20 consecutive hours of game play.

Macau is the only city in China where gambling is lawful and the revenues of the game are 5 times higher than those of Las Vegas. Many observers agree that Macau could well become the next capital world of the game and the poker. For this reason, Steve Wynn, owner of the luxurious Wynn Las Vegas said yesterday that a new complex (casino, restaurants, hotel, etc.) will be under construction soon in Macau since it received permission from the Government. Its construction should be completed in 2016 and will cost $ 4 billion.

Construction of the complex will take place in Cotai located between the islands of Taipa and Coloane in Macau. The hotel will count 2000 rooms, 500 table games, 10 restaurants, shops, bars and show rooms. It will be possible to get there by monorail.

During the press conference, Steve Wynn says: "the world is an unstable place, the European crisis is totally unpredictable and the U.S. economy is intermittent and irregular. China is to have one of the most stable stories at the moment but even here, in the People's Republic of China, there are questions about an economic slowdown and change. We do not see it at the moment, Macao is a special place from this point of view".

According to an article by the Reuters news agency who covered the event, "the [Macau] game revenues increased 42% last year to 33.5$ billion, or 5.5 times more than the Strip in Las Vegas".
