Alert Heartbleed; a good time to change your passwords

News PokerCollectif regulars know; computer security is a recurring theme in our articles. You should know that too many people yet neglect this aspect. And poker players who have been victims of fraud will tell you; to have stolen one of his poker accounts is still far worse than the worst of your downswings.

If the subject resurfaced surface today, is to tell you about the breach of security within the OpenSSL protocol called «» Free software OpenSSL is installed on servers from many sites to establish secure between it and its users and encrypted connections.

Very many websites use OpenSSL. The bug allows, in theory, hackers to be able to retrieve a large amount of information on users of sites using this security protocol (information, include the usernames and passwords of some accounts).

A global alert has even recently been launched.

The threatened sites are (we will call larger and popular, but the list is very long): Facebook, Google, Gmail, Youtube, Wallet Play, Yahoo, Airbnb, Netflix, Instagram, Twitter and the list continues.

It is therefore a very appropriate time for you to change your passwords.

There is no reason to think that your poker accounts passwords might be in danger, but it takes only a few minutes to change to have peace of mind. It is important to remember that the gateway to several hackers is the email box that will give access to all other passwords. What is a paranoid precaution? As the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, especially when prevention also takes little time.

It should be a habit for all to change its password at 6 months.
