Some facts on the 2011 WSOP

markedcards1Attendance of WSOP:
Many people were afraid that black friday of April 15 has a negative impact on the attendance at the World Series of Poker. US players can no longer play, therefore they couldn't qualify online for certain events.

Generally, the buy-in tournaments for the WSOP is relatively high for the average player and online satellites are a good way to access these tournaments. Because there would be fewer qualified via the Internet, many people expect a fairly significant decrease in participants. And that is not to mention that some professional players can access their money online.

But what in fact?

The surprising news is that so far, there has more tournaments as at the same date the year passed. General attendance is rising slightly, with 394 additional registrants compared to the similar tournaments last year.

The increase is thin (4%), but the point is that people expect that there are fewer registered, what is therefore good news for poker.

For example, the tournament of the year passed NLHE 6 - max-$1500 had received 1663 entries. This year, could have 1920 players. The tournament of Omaha Hi / Lo for his $ 1500 had last year received 818 entries this year could count 925.

Irregularity on official maps:
Speaking of the current events, Jon Turner allegedly discovered an irregularity on the official maps of the WSOP manufactured by Bicycle. When cards are subject to intensive light, you can see the value of the card. When Turner found the manufacturing defect, the final table of the event 8 was moved to another table less exposed to lighting.
