The Epic Poker League is bankrupt

Daniel Negreanu had predicted: the Epic Poker League that included Jeffrey Pollack (former Commissioner of the World Series of Poker) and Annie Duke on board, is now in bankruptcy. She recently completed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the United States that allows any company to reorganize under bankruptcy law.

As of February 29, the Federated Gaming Sports (is she who manages the Epic Poker League) we learned that the amount of the debt of the EPL is 4.79 million (including 2 million to Pinnacle Entertainment and 1.97 million at All In Production for the Heartland Poker Tour).

As a reminder, the EPL was intended to be a gathering of the crème de la crème of poker players. To be part of the EPL, you had to have done something big in the world of poker, you need to have accumulated prestigious titles.

Some players like Doyle Brunson had received a subscription to life in this League.

Negreanu, this League was without expectation of profit. According to his statements, the broadcasting of these poker tournaments could not be profitable and would not interest enough sponsors to be profitable. A freeroll for 1 M$ should be organized lately and the funds were to come from advertising or any organization that was looking for visibility.

EPIC tournaments were played at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas and had to be broadcast on CBS and Velocity Network.

In a letter addressed to the media, Jeffrey Pollack announced that he wanted to save the vessel which sank in seeking new partners and trying to reorganize the company, but it is far from being something made. You can read the full release here: official release of Jeffrey Pollack.
