She steals $ 350,000 pretending to scare away bad luck

A woman in South Africa was sentenced last Friday to 15 years in prison for fraud and theft by the regional court in Durban. Indeed, Nancy Shanelle Naidoo pleaded guilty to 29 counts, which included fraud, theft and extortion.

Naidoo promised players to get rid of the "tokoloshe", an evil spirit causing bad luck. She then asked its customers to deliver possession, so that it can bless them. Obviously, she did never return these items...


In some cases, she approached the punters and offered them a drug that was supposed to improve their chances of winning. She said also provide treatment to people at home, where the latter were usually stoned and fly.

In total, she stole 3.5 million rand ($ 350,000 CAD) between 2007 and 2012. One of his victims has been stealing, alone, more than 1,000,000 rand ($ 100,000 CAD) in cash and jewelry.
