Since the opening of the new hotel Vdara, some visitors have complained after receiving severe burns caused by a "death ray". This death ray is caused by the warm rays of Sun of Nevada which reflects on the unique concave design of Vdara Hotel, thus projecting rays directly to the outdoor swimming pool. The result is less astonishing: many visitors of the hotel have had severe burns from these powerful rays. The rays are so strong they even did melt plastic bags. Some guests have even had to run to take refuge away from the intense heat.
Counsel for Chicago Bill Pintas himself was victim of the dangerous Ray last week. "It was like a chemical burn! I couldn't understand why my head was burning as well! Within 30 seconds, the back of my legs burned. My first reaction was to tell me that the ozone layer had just be destroyed!"-you it explained.
Gordon Absher, spokesman for MGM Resorts (owner of Vdara Hotel), announced that they were aware of the problem and that designers and the hotel staff are working together to find a solution. Initially, designers had planned a problem of its kind during the construction and believed the problem by installing a film on the cutting edge of technology on South-facing windows. It was not enough.
The unique design of the building creates a convergence of the rays of the Sun that hits the side South. These rays are then projected onto an area of 10 feet by 15 feet, directly to the location of the swimming pool. This RADIUS moves according to the rotation of the Earth and increases the temperature by about 7 degrees celcius... and 7 degrees higher while you're in the desert, there are what burn on the spot!
So bring your sunscreen and avoid the death ray when you go follow Jonathan Duhamel on the final table of the WSOP in November!
