When and why bet?

When you bettez or raisez, ask yourself these questions:
Qu - what is j hope that my opponent will do? Can my bet make him do what I want? What hands am I d try to sleep? What hands am I d try to caller? What hands am I d try to raiser?

Here is an example of a hand:
25/50 NL heads up against a brilliant player but loose.
Bill raise A♠8♠ $ 150 on the button with a $ 5000. BB call with $ 7000.
The flop is 2♠Q♥9♠.

It check; Bill put $ 250; it call.
The turn is 4♥.
Check, check.
The river is 7♣.
It check; Ball wants to bet $ 800.
Why?
Me: What do you hope that your opponent does?
Bill: As he folds.
Me: What is this bet will do it accomplish this?
Bill: J missed my draw. I bet.
Me: What hands are you trying to sleep?
Bill: all?

Me: Specifically, what hands do you think qu it might have which would make him caller the flop?

Bill: K - Q, Q - J, Q-10, J-10, small spades, K - J, K - 10, 10-8, 9-8, 10-9, A-9, J-9, (d) other pairs

Me: Usually, don't update not on the River with a lady?

Bill: Ok, Yes, then those that remain.

Me: Do you think qu a new or other pairs go to bed? Not many draws missing River?
Bill: J imagine as usually, they calleraient.
Me: So, what hands d'you do bedroom? You have the ACE. You down K - J, K-10 and 10-8.
Bill: Oh, well, perhaps as a new would sleep not.

Bill: something like Q-10.
