Legislation: After Washington, New Jersey, California and Florida

criminal-defense-assault-battery.jpgNovember 2 in the United States, the Obama Democrats have lost mid-term vote, which is not good news for poker players. This new has nothing to give confidence to those who make efforts to legalize poker in the USA, such as Barney Frank.

Barney Frank is the man behind the Bill to regulate and legalize poker online in the United States. His project was to regulate the online game giving the opportunity to all to obtain a Government licence to operate freely in American soil. Inspired by the France, this project will perhaps never come. If this project was so dear, is that Barney Frank is himself an avid online poker.

Now, it looks like New Jersey and California want to take example on Washington.
Indeed, November 23 Senators of the State of New Jersey have adopted a text aimed at regulating online poker. Basically, the text stated that only players resisant in New Jersey would be entitled to play the online games offered by the casino in New Jersey. California seems to be also wanting to regulate the game online as early as 2011 and rumors want the administration of Florida will do the same.

Joe Brennan, president of the Interactive Media Entertainment and Gaming Association commented on the November 23 vote last in New Jersey: "when you have a vote in the Senate with 29 votes to 5, this sends a very clear message to everyone: the administration of the Governor, the public, the Assembly, all the persons concerned." I think that the Assembly will make this text a priority and focus on it very soon."

He continued: "we must make progress somewhere, Brennan adds. Our desire for a federal solution may not make us ignore the additional progress made at the State level. In the end, if the market is what it is, it is thanks to the players. For the players it becomes more difficult every day. We owe them advance and normalise the situation".
Brennan concluded by explaining that he recently tried to make a deposit on his poker with his credit card account, and not only its submission was rejected, but his credit card was blocked by his bank.

The text is not yet an official law. Before, it must be approved by the Assembly and signed by its Governor Christopher Christie, but let's say that things do not look too well.
Legislation is not the happiness of everyone: the Harrah's Entertainment Group is opposed fiercely, who owns four casinos in New Jersey and who sees this new of a very bad look.
