Nevada considers legalizing online poker

Nevada

A problem remains however; the opposition of Caesars Entertainment, a casino group with a lot of influence in Nevada. Later, we will know the impact this opposition will have on the development of this case.New development in the law of poker online. Inspired by the example of New Jersey, a new Bill proposed by the Democrat Whip William Horne (assisted by Richard Perkins, former member of Parliament mandated by PokerStars) seeks to legalize online poker in the State of Nevada (State in which we find Las Vegas).

This Bill aims to legalize online poker in Nevada in particular and everywhere where "online poker is not clearly prohibited". PokerStars would support this Bill and be in good voice for a licence if this project came to pass.

According to the draft, "online poker is widely practiced all over the world" and "the laws governing this game are unclear". The responsibility to regulate all would be tantamount to the Nevada Gaming Commission, which already oversees several casinos in Nevada.

The Bill suggests that casinos can offer the online poker without taxes in hotels with the specificity of a 4% tax on the profits that non-residents of Nevada will have generated.

John Pappas, the Director of the Poker Players Alliance wishes that this project be voted this year and thinks big; He would like to make it also vote in all States, this project extends to the level of the country. He would like that the policy does either not only applied at the level of the States, but at the federal level, a policy favourable to the poker online that cover all the country.

Is this project will encourage online poker to clear laws and to be tighten? Will other States follow this initiative? Hard to say for the moment, but, one thing is certain, this Bill will be chatting in the coming weeks/months. PokerCollectif will keep you abreast of any development in this case.
