Online poker is more legal in South Africa

all_africa_poker_results.jpgSince August 20, online betting and gambling on the Internet (which the poker is part), are no longer allowed in South Africa. It is an African Court that ruled on this decision, motivated by the initiative of the commission Gauteng Gamblind Board (GGB) who struggled long to declare illegal online betting sites, regardless their nature.

Any poker room online who would still operate in South Africa would be liable to prosecution. The head of the commission does not dead hand: "we have contacted the media to inform them of the judgment which makes them illegal online games sites. If they continue to exercise, we stop them and condemn them.

It is not impossible that the African Government authorizes licences in the future to regulate the market. Each poker room must therefore have its licence to operate in African soil. The poker room that has already been taken to operate illegally until the African Government has regulated the market with permits, will be automatically rejected and will never operate in African soil.

And it goes further. The operators took offence will be fined to pay equivalent to a little more $ 1 million or 10 years in prison. It makes you think twice before wanting to play the offender!

The case is the same in Israel where money games are popular. The only legal games in Israel are State monopolies such as the lottery and sports betting.

Note in closing that the Microgaming group has its head office in South Africa, like many casinos.
