Russia: Internet providers should block access to gambling sites

The Supreme Court of the Russia has established this month "that no trace of gambling should be tolerated on the Internet". The anti-gambling laws of the Russia have been strengthened after the Supreme Court of the country has determined that Internet providers could remove their license to operate if they did provide information on online betting sites. This new belies the old law which had been published in "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", the official journal of the Government, like what Internet service providers were not required to block access to gambling sites.

According to the writings of the Supreme Court: "It is necessary to disconnect even sites that provide information about the gambling".

She continues: "this is a much more rigorous than in the past approach: no trace of gambling should be tolerated on the Internet".

For the moment, operate a gambling site is illegal. On the other hand, play a gambling site is not. Until now, several efforts have been made to block financial transactions to gambling sites.

Internet providers must therefore now block access to 1500 addresses that are on the black list of the Government as being illegal gambling sites. Failure to comply with these requirements, this may lead to the withdrawal of the licence of operation of the internet access provider.

And to be clear, these gambling sites also include types of sites such as PokerCollectif, in short, of sites that provide information about the gambling, but on which you can not bet.

Difficult to say more at the moment. A thread has already been created on the Twoplustwo forums with several visions of things. You can consult it at the following address: law on gambling in Russia thread Twoplustwo.
